Christmas...a little late

This year, as with every year, we had three Christmas events!  The first came the week prior to Christmas with BoomMa and BoomPa coming to Kansas City/Olathe to celebrate our Christmas here.  Aunt Kendell, Uncle Chris, and cousin Ledger also came up for the festivities!  Friday night, I made pot roast, mashed potatoes, salad (by the bag, of course) and then for a surprise, Mushroom Whatnots (sort of).  The mushrooms were a hit!  I think the rest of the food went over pretty well too, but the mushrooms were the star of the meal!

Saturday morning, we woke up to have "Christmas morning" under our tree.  Kinley got her first stocking!  Ledger cleaned up, literally, with yard work tools and a drum set.  I made a delicious breakfast wreath that was super easy and a family hit!

For lunch, we hit up Jason's Deli and then made an unsuccessful attempt at seeing Santa at Bass Pro Shops (the wait was about 2 hours...no thank you!).  Our big celebration was that evening when we went to a hibachi style Japanese steakhouse, Haru's.  It is one of Josh and I's favorite places to eat and it did not disappoint!  Ledger was a little weary of the big flame but really enjoyed the edamame!  All of the adults did the shrimp toss... but let me just say, I definitely caught the most!  I am good people, really!

Sunday we made our traditional trip to Mi Ranchito to enjoy the best Mexican food in KC!  When asked what he wanted for lunch, Ledger said to the waitress, "No, I'll just have chips." It was freaking adorable... he was so matter-of-fact!  After that we watched a little Chiefs football and then everyone headed out.  Great Grammie, Great Aunt Lynnda, and Uncle Papa (Warren) were in town and stopped by to see our new house and meet Miss Kinley!  It was an awesome weekend!

Our second Christmas was actually on Christmas and Christmas Eve.  Christmas Eve we spent it at Josh's parents house.  We had an amazing dinner of smoked ribs and yummy hash brown casserole.  We opened our gifts and Kinley got a ton of books and cute little clothes!  She is so spoiled by her Grandma and Grandad!  After our gifts, we played a few games while watching football.  I lost at all of them...  stupid games! :)  But seriously, I hate losing but I hated hearing my baby girl cry more!

Christmas day we woke up and headed back over to Josh's parents house.  They host a Christmas lunch each year with his extended family.  It was a lot of fun to see his cousins, aunt and uncle, and Grandma Kovach.  Kinley wore her pretty Christmas dress just so she could have cute pictures with everyone!  We exited early and headed home for a relaxing night at home and early to bed.

Our last Christmas celebration was in Lindsborg at my Mom's house.  We left the morning after Christmas for Kinley's first roadtrip.  I was very nervous that it would not go well.  Instead, it went perfectly and she slept the entire 3 1/2 hours!  It was a miracle.  That night Aunt Kendell, Uncle Chris, and cousin Ledger came over to help Kinley experience her last "first Christmas".  We opened stockings and Kinley got more books and a boombox (to play her much needed white noise at night)!  We ended the night with games and had a blast.  We spent about five days there and even got a "Welcome to the Family" party for Kinley where she got to meet all of her cousins and extended family.  It was really nice and I really enjoyed my time with my cousins!

This is 4 generations!
She was hungry, can you tell?
Bonus pictures from our holiday break...

We watched a lot of KSU basketball and even a football game.  We either peed or spit up on all of KSU gear so we improvised with this awesome purple outfit from Grandma and Grandad.

Tummy Time with Daddy and the puppies (who by the way, don't give a hoot about Kinley)

By New Years Eve, we were home and exhausted from the past few weeks!  We were asleep by 11:00 pm like usual and were thankful for another few days of rest before Josh had to go back to work!

Hope you all had a happy holiday season!
Merry Christmas!
