Weekend Recap

Well, our awesome Cats couldn't pull it off on Saturday. I nearly cried. No, really. Josh and I went to a bar near our house to watch the game and about 2 minutes left in the game, I started getting very anxious. That anxiety generally has a roller coaster of emotions that follow, and deep sadness was what I felt after the game was over. But, Frankie, there is always next year! Go Cats!!!

On a little brighter note, when basketball season ends...it means BASEBALL! Our Varsity got cancelled on Thursday (stinking rain) but were scheduled to play in a tournament on Saturday. If you are not a Kansan, you may not have noticed that our weekend was a gloomy mess! Friday, our JV played in a similar tournament and got 3rd. Good job boys! But then... it rained overnight and our fields were flooded. Again. So the Varsity was cancelled. Boo!

We did get to go out and watch Josh's softball team play in on of their first tournaments. It was a C/D tournament (if you don't know about men's slowpitch softball leagues...lucky you) and we are a D team. There were some awesome teams that were there. I even overheard a "fan" of another team say that they couldn't believe that we were listed as a D team and that they thought we should be C! Woo hoo! Go Smooth! We did well. We got 4th and got a big trophey (yep, for 4th). Josh obviously didn't get to play...that darn collarbone! But only a few more weeks and I'll be cheering him on too!

So all in all, a pretty boring weekend. We didn't accomplish a whole lot. A few movies (Top Gun, Whip It, and Not Another Cinderella Movie) and a few ball games, that's about it. We will be needing that rest for our upcoming week. We have games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Go Falcons!

Baby K

Today is the first day of Spring...in Kansas, obviously. However, today is my good friend Jana's baby shower! We are so excited for Baby K! And, Jana is such a cute prego!

This is the diaper cake that I made... I am very proud! So I'm tooting my own horn!
Kelly and I threw the shower for Jana and we made lots of yummy snacks! I even donated my delicious habenera pretzel dip for the occassion! Please note the chocolate dipped strawberries. They are my favorite and I thought they looked awfully pretty on the table!

We played a few games too. I even interviewed her husband Matt some "Baby Smarts" questions. He did awesome! We played it for the shower and had to guess if we thought he would get it right and see if his and Jana's answers matched.
We also played the greatest baby shower game ever... Dirty Diaper. I love it. You take pieces of chocolate candy bars and melt them into a diaper and then smush it all around. Then pass the diapers around and have guests try to guess the flavor of the chocolate. It is funny! This is Jana taking a test sniff to see if she can identify the dirty deed! :) Isn't her tummy adorable!

Here's the party posing my my tiny staircase! It was amazing that so many people fit inside our house! It was a great shower and we hope Jana got everything they wanted! Congrats again Jana!

Big 12 Championship

Josh and I were lucky enough to get to go to the Big 12 Championship game with Angie and Bryan this past Saturday. It was a blast! We, unfortunately, were not able to pull it off but we played a heck of a game. And in the words of Frankie, "we just needed our guys to hit more baskets". How clever?!? I love you Frankie! Go Cats!
